Our Victorian ‘Free Rachel Abroms’ Collection is not only gorgeous; it has symbolic meaning that makes each piece even more significant and endearing to the wearer! This collection of Victorian lockets, padlocks, skeleton keys, and glass cameos all represent liberation from the things that bind us, hence the name of the collection- Free Rachel Abroms! The skeleton key infuses one with the liberating power to unlock ‘doors’- to pass from old situations into new ones with ease. The glass cameo intaglio comes from an original vintage piece that we reproduced. “intaglio” means carved into the material, instead of bas relief. Cameos represent a time before ‘Kodak moments’, when an image of a loved one was carried in the form of a carving. As such, they represent fond sentimentality and nostalgia. Padlocks represent things which are cherished and want to be kept. They are also a symbol of release, when worn with a key. Wearing both is symbolic of possessing both the question and the answer. Lockets also represent things which are cherished and held close to the heart. Worn with a key, it symbolizes both holding it dear and letting it go; as the Zen saying goes- ‘Hold fast with open palm’. |
